How often do we desire to have a magic wand for whisking away our mental and physical problems or some gadget that can help us to get rid of the pain, stress, and constant suffering by just clicking a button? Rather than depending upon technological devices or waiting for sudden magic to happen one can simply take the path of meditation which is nowhere less than a boon for an individual. What is Meditation?

Before trying something new one should know about it same goes for meditation as well. Meditation is a way to experience and recognize one’s own soul by turning the attention inward in a process that involves the connections between mind, soul, and physical body. The best way to be a part of this beautiful process and taste a glimpse of paradise is to invest a small amount of time for greater benefits.

Imagine a big house that has a lot of rooms and you want to shut the doors from where you can sense unwanted screams and some kind of danger arising. Our brain is like that control and powerhouse where all our senses are converted into signals and then the reactions are sent back to the body for responding. Once we start meditating we get the ability to focus and endure those instincts in a more calm and placid manner. The apprehension increases and allows the brain to shut the doors or create a wall from where we sense pain or any sort of distraction and act more attentive and deal in a subtle manner with our emerging thoughts.

How to Meditate: Basic Steps

The process can be only carried out once we are prepared with these basic tips and techniques which can enhance our experience. Let’s see a few common steps on how to meditate-

Choosing the time

The first and foremost step is to set a time and schedule it with other daily tasks. Although one can meditate whenever they feel like but for a better experience list it as the first thing after you wake up. Any other preferred time can also work but it must be your free time since this process needs your mind to be relaxed.

Selecting the space and equipment

Our mind feels more positive and happy when we are in a clean and noiseless place. As the whole meditating process is to improve the power & control house of our body the immediate environment should be suitable for concentrating. For adding a little ease yoga mats and cushions for chairs can be a good alternative along with incense sticks with a mild fragrance to enlighten your mood and nerves.

Figuring out an appropriate dress

 Any clothes which aren’t limiting the flexibility of your body are preferable. Since we decide on our clothes according to the activity we are going to be involved in. From playing sports to going to a meeting or for a day out to sleeping at night most people choose the most suitable and comfortable clothes so that they don’t get distracted due to discomfort.

Creating a paradigm

For beginners, the duration of 5 minutes is great, and rest if one is consistent they can expand it up to 30 minutes or more. As per the research, one needs around 21 days to make a habit and once you are involved in the process after 3-4 days you can sense the change in you and the development of the urge to meditate. Most of us expect instant results from everything. The more amount of money and time we invest the quicker and better outcomes we want. But one needs to keep some patience to gain the benefits of owning a healthy body.

Following the Mentor

Following a specific meditating guide or mentor can decrease the chances of your irregularity and besides this, it can help in the initial stages.

One can start meditating by keeping or not keeping in the mind the above steps. But what remains important is to prepare yourself and the will to do the process without hesitation or pressure. Start with relaxing your body and feel as light as you can. As soon as the body finds itself a suitable position you can start with the breathing process and feel its presence in your mind. There will be chances of your mind thinking about anything and there you need to alert the thoughts to come back to their original situation and focus again on meditating.
